ExaConnect

Exa uses ExaConnect to fetch content from partners Exa has an agreement with, such as licensed feeds and partner APIs. It fetches only those partners' endpoints, on the schedule agreed with them. ExaConnect is not used for crawling the open web; that is ExaSearchBot.

ExaConnect is not used to determine whether content may appear in Exa search. Use ExaSearchBot in robots.txt to manage search opt-outs and automatic crawling.

Verification

Every request is signed with Web Bot Auth (RFC 9421). Keys are published at https://exaconnect.crawler.exa.ai/.well-known/http-message-signatures-directory.

Fetches only the endpoints of partners Exa has an agreement with, on the schedule agreed with them.

Signs requests

So you can confirm a request is genuinely us.

No open-web crawling

It does not crawl the open web; that is ExaSearchBot.

No circumvention

It does not attempt to bypass logins, paywalls, or CAPTCHAs.
